American Testimony- 1992 - The Insurrection
This next section of American Testimony looks at the Insurrection taking place in the summer of 1992 following the not guilty verdicts of the police officers who beat Rodney King. The violent outburst that occurred seemed to represent the perfect metaphor for the cruelty and racist plans that had been created 500 years previously.
Our interviews and tapes of the anger bubbling up that summer were extraordinary and, combined with the oral histories about the Apache nation and Custer’s plans we had recorded with the children, made for a compelling sound collage.
